The park has well developed facilities for lake users such as change rooms, a beach, and flush washrooms. Popular activities include swimming, power boating, water skiing, sailing, wind surfing, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. On the land, there are hiking (boardwalks in the day use area), mountain biking, camping, birding, and geocaching opportunities. Birders can view hooded mergansers, bald eagles, mallards, gulls, terns, rails, herons, loons, kingfishers, sandpipers, ospreys, western grebes, ravens, gray jays, and great gray owls.

Wabamum Lake Provincial Park is popular for golfers as well because it is adjacent to a golf course with two others nearby.
